Company overview

Formed in 2009, Your IT Department is an MSP known for delivering exceptional IT and communications services. They support a range of different businesses across manufacturing, recruitment and professional services sectors and specialising in cybersecurity and automation. Over time, Your IT has developed its service offering to ensure it can support both operational IT requirements as well as broader security needs across its customer base.

In this case study, Managing Director of Your IT Department, Lee Hewson shares their decisions behind onboarding CyberSentriq and their experience working with Brigantia to evaluate and onboard the platform.

The challenge

Your IT were looking to address a combination of cost and operational challenges within their existing approach to backup and recovery.

A key issue they were facing with a previous provider was an increase in licensing costs being driven by additional features and tools that had been added over time. This made it difficult for Your IT to maintain a clear and efficient commercial model across their stack.

In addition to this, they were also looking for a solution that was easier for engineers to use day-to-day. Usability was a key factor to ensure services could be managed consistently across their customer base.

Lee shared that the previous setup they used also lacked key functionality, including Microsoft Entra ID backup and the ability to recover data quickly enough. This created a gap in protection as well as the risk of substantial disruption to clients in the event they required fast data recovery.

Lee Hewson, Managing Director, explained:

“The main issues was increasing costs because of the additional licenses we were having to buy … also being able to backup Entra ID - which was not a feature that we had currently.”

Introduction to CyberSentriq

Your IT had been aware of CyberSentriq for some time through events, as well as the marketing and education Brigantia regularly does around their vendors. Up until recently, it had not been the right time to look into the product in more detail.

Once the time was right, Lee approached Brigantia about CyberSentriq to find out how it could address the challenges they were facing around costs and Entra ID functionality.

Brigantia arranged a product demonstration to help Your IT understand how the solution could fit into their existing stack. A key part of the evaluation of the product also involved technical staff early on in the process.

Dom Haughton, Senior Product Specialist at Brigantia explained:

“We ran a demo of the platform, which allowed us to understand the additional functionality required and the
challenges Your IT were facing with their existing backup product, then invited in their technical team to a fully functional proof of concept, allowing them to onboard some customers and put CyberSentriq through it's
paces, giving confidence that it would work for them day-to-day."

Why Your IT chose CyberSentriq

Your IT made the decision to add CyberSentriq to their stack for its combination of usability, functionality and operational fit.

The platform provided the faster restore capabilities they were looking for, allowing their technical team to recover data more efficiently when required. It also provided a stronger commercial fit and added Microsoft Entra ID backup into their offering, closing an important gap in their backup strategy.

Working with Brigantia

Brigantia played a central role in supporting Your IT throughout the evaluation and deployment of CyberSentriq, particularly through access to product specialists with detailed knowledge of the platform.

Lee highlighted the value of being able to work directly with specialists who understood both the product and the practical challenges often faced by MSPs.

He said:

“Brigantia have very good product specialists that understand the solutions they sell very well. They were able to understand what we were looking for and the challenges we’ve got, and showcase the solution.”

Your IT also valued the ability to involve different stakeholders during the evaluation phase, ensuring that both technical and non-technical perspectives were considered before making a final purchasing decision.

Alongside technical support and guidance through the evaluation process, Brigantia has since provided sales and marketing support after Your IT had implemented CyberSentriq, along with opportunities to explore additional capabilities across the platform as customer needs evolve.

The outcome

The proof of concept process gave Your IT confidence in their decision to use CyberSentriq, knowing that the platform was tested in real-world conditions before rollout.

Since implementing CyberSentriq, Your IT has been able to address the costs around licensing that they were facing. They’ve also been able to improve the usability of their backup and recovery processes, making it easier for engineers to manage Microsoft 365 environments.

The addition of Entra ID backup has also strengthened coverage across their critical identity services. The ability to restore quickly using InstantData™ for customers means that when recovery is required, it will be fast and efficient.

Lee summarised the experience:

“Brigantia is probably the best distributor in the market for what they do. They position themselves very well, they’ve got product experts across the portfolio and they know what they’re talking about. I think that’s quite unique in this space.”

Ongoing support and collaboration

Your IT continues to work closely with Brigantia following deployment, with regular check-ins and ongoing engagement around product development and roadmap updates.

This ongoing collaboration helps ensure the solution remains aligned with both operational requirements as well as wider service strategy.
