About the Role 

We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our Finance team, reporting to our Finance DirectorThis role will act as the link between the office-based finance team and the Finance Director, providing day to day support, guidance and advice in the key areas of AP, AR, VAT, Banking, Payroll, Monthly closing along with internal and statutory reporting.   

 

Key Responsibilities

The Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day over-sight and running of the Finance Office team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas: 

  • Review and authorisation of the bi-monthly supplier BACS payment runs. Review and authorisation of International and other monthly supplier payments 
  • SAGE Bank reconciliations 
  • Cashflow analysis and forecasting to manage and maximise cash treasury deposits 
  • VAT review, reconciliation and quarterly returns 
  • Payroll review and exception reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness from third party payroll provider 
  • Accounting system maintenance and management, including journal postings and looking for efficiencies 
  • Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations preparation, investigation and resolution of corrections where necessary ahead of review 
  • Assisting the AP & AR function at month-end as volume increases 
  • To be integral in the accounting system changeover. Be part of the project management and implementation. Over-sight and data cleansing of the current AP/AR data sets and GL set-up 
  •  Statutory reporting – Year-end Audit assistance.

Skills & Experience 

Essential: 

Recognised Professional Accountancy Qualification: ACCA/CIMA 

Systems: SAGE50 / NetSuite desirable 

Advanced Excel (PIVOT / SUMIFS / XLOOKUP), MSOffice 

Desirable (but not essential): 

 Advanced analytical skills 

Team leadership and ability to develop finance staff 

Process improvement – streamlining of month-end close and automation of processes
