Managing Microsoft Intune and Entra ID configurations is no small feat. As organisations adopt more cloud services and mobile workforces, identity and device policies are becoming more and more complex. With constantly evolving policies, conditional access rules and compliance requirements, even a small misconfiguration or accidental deletion can open the door to security vulnerabilities, data loss or costly downtime.
For MSPs, the challenge is even greater with the need to maintain consistency, compliance and fast recovery across multiple clients and environments.
This is where Redstor steps in. This year, we’ve seen powerful new updates to its Microsoft Entra ID and Intune backup capabilities, making it easier than ever to protect critical identity infrastructure and device policies, with greater visibility, flexibility and speed.
Formerly known as Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), Microsoft Entra ID is Microsoft’s cloud-based identity and access management service. It’s at the centre of modern access control - powering sign-ins, conditional access, role-based permissions, device compliance checks and much more.
In short, if using Microsoft 365 or Intune, security posture is tightly integrated with Entra ID - making back up and recovering of these configurations absolutely essential.
Many assume that Microsoft has a native backup - but this isn’t the case. Microsoft doesn’t provide a native backup for Entra ID. Soft-deleted objects like users and groups can be restored for up to 30 days and objects like conditional access policies, app registrations and devices, are hard-deleted as soon as they’re removed.
Hard-deleted objects cannot be recovered, and deleted Azure AD resources are permanently removed after 30 days. So, what does this mean?
Essentially, without third-party protection in place; a misconfiguration, wrong click or a malicious act can cause irreparable damage.
Redstor ensures organisations have the backup they need in place and it has significantly broadened its Microsoft Entra ID backup coverage. Users can now back up, compare and restore a wider range of critical identity objects, strengthening their cyber resilience and making incident recovery faster and even more reliable.
These objects shape everything from login locations and MFA strength to mobile device access. With Redstor, these can now be backed up, monitored for changes and restored in seconds if needed.
Keeping track of changes across a dynamic identity infrastructure is another challenge, but Redstor’s improved comparison tools allow:
Whether monitoring policy drift or responding to misconfigurations, this granularity means misconfigurations, policy drift or compliance issues can be identified quickly and fixed confidently.
Recently announced in August, Redstor has rolled out complete backup support for Microsoft Intune. Device configuration policies and app protection policies can now be backed up and restored, allowing organisations to recover from sync issues, accidental deletions or misapplied settings without having to start from scratch.
As you know, recovery isn’t just about speed, it's about getting it right and Redstor’s enhanced restore capabilities are built to match the real-world needs of MSPs and security teams:
These features help to reduce operational overheads and ensure fast and accurate recoveries – even for complex environments.
Redstor allows MSPs to deliver a strong service value, fast recovery times and greater confidence in security posture for their clients. And for end users, it means continuity, compliance, and control - even in the face of configuration changes, cyber incidents or policy misalignments.
Whether protecting a single business or managing dozens of environments, Redstor provides the tools needed to backup and restore identities and device settings with confidence.
